Re-discover the pleasures of the handwritten word.  This class is not a step back into the past, but rather a way to experience a different style of life by reconnecting with nature and by using your hands.

Day 1: Arrival in the afternoon and introduction to the area, dinner at Osteria del Lago.


Day 2: Breakfast and departure for the laboratory of handmade paper. Light lunch with Natan and Catharina.

The full-day workshop includes:

–  an introduction to the history of paper from its invention in China to its arrival in Europe via the  Arab world as well as of the differences between Eastern and Western paper making;

–  an explanation of how to prepare different fibers (cotton, linen, hemp, textiles and plants, recycled paper) for their use in making paper, as well as seeing and feeling their different results;

– the use of various techniques, including embeddings, in the making of paper;

–  the use of cellulose for making objects;

–  the creation and function of watermarks;

–  ‘drawing’ with a water-jet ( invention of Natan Kaaren).

Dinner at the Osteria del Lago.


Day 3: Breakfast and free day to explore our territory

Includes: 2 nights accommodation, 2 breakfasts, 2 dinners from the tourist menu, 1 light lunch, the workshop;

Crivelli Tour – Venetian painters in the Marche

Duration of Package:  3 nights

Itinerary:  Massa Fermana  (FM) – Falerone (FM) – Monte San Martino (MC)

Fleeing Venice in 1457, the late-gothic artist brothers Carlo and Vittore Crivelli chose the Marche as the home for their creation .

Our tour package, focusing on these two painters, is aimed at those who would enjoy an historic-artistic itinerary. This is accomplished by visiting these artists’ works in their original context and by explaining the events that inspired them as well as the patrons who commissioned them.

Day 1Arrive between 2:00P.M. and 6:00 P.M., which allows you time to meet your host and to settle into your room.  Supper at the  Osteria del Lago.

Day 2:  Breakfast at 7:30 A.M.  We depart at 8:30 A.M. for our visit in Massa Fermana, where Carlo painted his first work here in the Marche.  We will then, at 10:30 A.M., transfer to the archaeological museum in Falerone to view the Immaculate Conception painted by Vittore.  This is followed by lunch at 1:30 P.M. in Monte San Martino at the well-respected Ristorante dei Priori.  In the afternoon we will visit the polyptychs of Carlo and Vittore Crivelli in the Church of San Martino.

Day 3: Today we meet our guide in Ascoli Piceno at 10:00 A.M. in the Piazza del Popolo, one of the most stunning squares in Italy.  During our 2-hour guided tour, we will visit the most important historical monuments and artistic treasures.  You will have free time for 1 hour to shop or just to savour a drink in one of the cafes, people-watching and enjoying the beauty of the travertine buildings surrounding you.  Lunch is at 1:00 P.M. in the Trattoria dell’Arengo, near the Piazza Arringo,.  In the afternoon, for a deeper appreciation of the human and artistic story of Carlo Crivelli in Ascoli Piceno, we will visit the Church of Sant’Emidio which houses one of his stunning polyptychs.  After which, you are free to enjoy Ascoli Piceno on your own.
