SINERGICA CERAMICS – PAOLO NANNINI

In Monte San Martino, located 20 minutes and 10 km from Agriturismo Piccolo Pony, is Ceramica Sinergica.  It is managed by Paolo Nannini and his wife Manuela.  What sets their creations apart is that many of them are replicating famous paintings and painters’ styles.  They are wonderfully unique.

Take time to walk around this perched hill town, enjoying its medieval atmosphere and its spectacular views, ranging from the Sibillini Mountains to the Adriatic Sea.  Hire the local guide Giuseppe Millozzi (contact 333 2163287 or 0736 848099) who can introduce you to the polyptychs of Vittore and Carlo Crivelli in the ancient church of San Martino, the frescos in the Church of Santa Maria delle Grazie and the painting gallery in the Palazzo Ricci.  He can also bring you to visit the Cantina dei Papi which contains work and household items which were used up until WWII by the farmers.

For a glass of wine or an aperitif, we highly recommend the enoteca-wine bar Le Segrete di Palazzo Urbani. Here you will have a glimpse of the cells below the Urbani Palace.  It is managed by Jane Polentini 392 3027497.

If it is time for a meal, try Ristorante Dei Priori.  It is located in the square and is a restaurant which is simply furnished but which offers professional and friendly service.  The cook Angelica prepares  some of the tastiest meals in the Marche.  Contact: 0733 660209 or 338 5995723

THIS IS A HIGHLY RECOMMENDED DAY TRIP

BOTTEGA DEI VASAI BOZZI 1851

A visit to the Bottega Dei Vasai Bozzi is an educational experience.  It is located 30 minutes and 33 km from Agriturismo Piccolo Pony.  Pottery-making has been handed down in their family since 1851 and thus is an integral part of their lives.  The bottega is a reflection of a way of life and of the culture and history of Montottone.  Annamaria Bozzi offers a “hands-on” experience for those who wish to try their skill at pottery making whether it is for a few hours or for a few days.  Her brother Emanuele manages the production of the pottery and will show you their various creations and how he creates the colours.  While narrating the history of both the family and of their traditional kitchen products, many of whose styles date back to the 1400s,  the visitor becomes aware that each product reflects the events and the emotions the creator experiences that particular day.
